Keane: Torres Partnership Will Work
Robbie Keane is confident he can form a lethal partnership with Fernando Torres at Liverpool.
At Sunderland, Keane had left the pitch by the time Torres scored his wonder goal, having inadvertently blocked a scrambled effort from the Spain star as he too tried to score.
Keane remains up-beat about the partnership and positive Liverpool can be among the serious title contenders.
He said: "I have settled in really well and I'm getting on fine and I am used to coming to internationals at this time of year so that will have no affect.
Torres: Prem Priority
After hitting the winner at Sunderland, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says the Premiership is their priority this season.
"Our focus is on The Premier League and we know how important it is to win The Premier League for the fans," Torres told Setanta Sports.
"It has been too many years and we are focusing on that. It was important to start with a win after the not so very good game in the Champions League."
Much is expected of Torres' striking partnership with new boy Robbie Keane and the Spaniard is optimistic.
Rafa Backs Torres
Rafael Benitez reckons he has a strike force as good as anything in Europe as he prepares Liverpool for tonight's Champions League qualifier. Spanish star Fernando Torres and new recruit Robbie Keane are expected to be sent out against Belgian champions Standard Liege to shoot Liverpool into the group stages.
This third qualifying round, first leg, should not be too demanding for Liverpool, who have never lost an away leg at this stage of the competition.
And Benitez is banking on Torres and Keane for the goals.
Torres ready for Prem Title
Fernando Torres had only been a European champion for a matter of hours when the Liverpool star consigned Spain's triumph to the history books and turned his attention to Anfield's own trophy drought.
Torres's typically clinical finish against Germany in Vienna sealed Spain's first international trophy for 44 years and capped a memorable season for the striker.
His stunning debut campaign with Liverpool had provided the perfect response to critics who questioned his ability to prosper at the highest level, and now he was the golden boy of Spanish football as well.
Keane keen on Torres
Liverpool striker Robbie Keane is excited about playing with Euro2008 winner Fernando Torres.
He said: "He will get better this season, which is great for Liverpool and has got to be a worry for the rest of the division.
"For me, Torres has just got to be about the best striker in the world at the moment. You saw how good he was at the European Championships, and I am sure scoring the winning goal in the final will have done his confidence the world of good.
Torres Wants 33 Goals Again
Liverpool ace Fernando Torres is confident he won't suffer from second season blues.
"Getting our minds back on Liverpool will not be a problem," said Torres.
"All us Spaniards came back happy, full of confidence and with a desire to stay at the top and keep on winning.
"People are talking about us winning the League again. We also have to be among the best teams in the Champions League.
"I have to aim at least to equal last year's figure of 33 goals. I'm coming into this season with all the desire and hope in the world."
Fernando Torres wants Trophies
Fernando Torres admits winning the European Championship with Spain has only made him more determined to bring silverware to Liverpool.
"Euro 2008 was my first major title, but I don't want it to end here," said Torres. "I want it to be the first of many titles because I want to win trophies with Liverpool.
"I know how much that would mean to the club and the fans.
"They gave me terrific support during Euro 2008 and I know that they were cheering for Spain, which is something I will never forget."
Pacheco wants to partner Fernando Torres
Dani Pacheco would love to partner fellow Spaniard Fernando Torres in Liverpool's attack.
The 17 year-old has caught the eye in Liverpool's preseason and told the club's website: "I would love to play with Torres because he is such a great striker and it would be very special for me to be in the team with him.
"He is Spanish also and he is a big hero for everyone in my country after he scored the winning goal in the Euro 2008 final.
"He is one of the best strikers around so I think I would learn a lot from him if I played in the team with him.
Torres: Always Improving
Fernando Torres has warned Gareth Barry and Robbie Keane to prepare for a culture shock as they close in on their Liverpool moves.
Spain striker Torres scored scoring the winner in the Euro 2008 Final against Germany - following a great debut season in England when he netted 33 goals, 24 of them in the Premier League.
Now he is set to be joined by Aston Villa midfielder Barry and Spurs striker Keane, as manager Rafael Benitez builds for a domestic title challenge.
