Fernando Torres is yet another star player that is going to miss the Euros in France.

The Atletico Madrid striker has not been selected in the team despite having been quite prolific since his return from injury. Indeed, the former Liverpool and Chelsea player has scored 7 goals in his last 11 games, and this has fueled rumors that he might be recalled to the Spain national team.

However, the Spain manager Del Bosque has said that he did not want to take any gamble. He has only selected players that have been fit during the season and also players that have been consistent. For him, Torres is a good player but at the moment, there is no guarantee that will be able to perform at an international tournament like the Euros. He prefers to select players that are physically fit and that may be able to help the team achieve something in France.

Del Bosque has stated that he did not want to have many players with fitness doubts. He said that they already have players such as David Silva and Lucas Vazquez, who are doubtful and that he did not want to add Torres to the list.

Among other players that are going to miss the Euros, we have Diego Costa, Santi Cazorla, and Juan Mata. Bosque said that he did not select Diego Costa in the team as he had some doubts about his fitness. In fairness, Costa has not really settled in the Spanish team and has just managed 1 goal in the last 10 games for his country.

Santi Cazorla has only returned recently for Arsenal and will definitely lack match fitness while Juan Mata has been out of form with Manchester United and had also missed some games due to injuries.
