GERRARD WINS TOP PLAYERS FROM LIVERPOOL-UNITED VOTE

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has emerged the winner of a fans’ vote organized by Sky Sports for the top 50 players to come out from Liverpool and Manchester United.

The ex-Reds midfielder led the pack after garnering 49,000 votes. In second place is Barcelona talisman Luis Suarez with 40,000 votes.

TORRES SAYS SIMEONE’S EXIT RUMOURS “NOT REAL”

Spanish footballer Fernando Torres has dismissed rumours that coach of Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone might leave the club soon.

There have been reports that Simeone reduced the length of his contract with the La Liga side as he was planning his exit. The reports claim the coach’s deal would now lapse in 2018 instead of the intended 2020.

Atletico Madrid’s coach Diego Simeone has confirmed that Fernando Torres will be starting in the Champions League match against Barcelona.

Fernando Torres played in the game against Real Betis in the weekend and even scored a goal in the match. He also assisted Antoine Griezmann in one of the goals before he was substituted.

Simeone has revealed that the reason he was substituted was because he wanted to prepare him for the game against Barcelona. Fernando Torres is currently in a rich vein of form having scored four goals in the last seven games for Atletico. He deservedly needs to be in the team to face Barcelona in the Champions League.
